The Washington Family  Descendant Scholarship Award, Washington and Lee University

Since 1982 the National  Society has sponsored this award for the purpose of promoting and supporting  scholarship in the field of American history. The award is made annually to the  rising senior history major who attains the highest grade-point-average  following his or her first three years of study.

The John A. Washington Research  Award

In 2012 the National Society established the John A. Washington Research Award, which will be presented at  the discretion of the executive board to support deserving projects that  publish, preserve, or expand research on the Washington family.

 Library of Virginia’s Adopt  Virginia History Program

NSWFD has participated in the Library of  Virginia’s Adopt Virginia History Program by adopting the Henry Alexander Odgen  1895 watercolor, Washington Greeting  Rochambeau at the West Doorway of Mount Vernon, September 1781,   for conservation.
